Welcome to EUSA ID

EUSA_ID is a mobility programme offering study, training and research periods in Europe for South African Master and PhD candidates and staff and provides European PhD candidates the opportunity to spend a research period in South Africa. Staff applications can be submitted at any time until June 2017

Even if the deadline of the last Call for scholarship applications expired on 15th June 2016, staff applicants can still submit their applications until the end of June 2017!

South African staff applicants

For the last Wave of the 3rd Cohort 3 South African Master, 1 South African PhD candidate and 4 European PhD Candidates were selected and will commence their studies within the year 2016. Additionally some South African academic and admin staff candidates were selected for a staff mobility.

Call for Papers - 5th Annual International PhD Conference in International Development

On September 5th & 6th 2016, the 5th Annual International PhD Conference in International Development will take place at the University of East Anglia.
The CALL FOR PAPERS is open until 31st May.

Selection Results 3rd Cohort

Selection Results:
For the 1st and 2nd Wave of the 3rd Cohort, starting in 2015/2016, 28 applicants were selected for a scholarship:
16 south african Master students were selected for a study period or full degree at european partner universities,
3 south african PhD students were selected for a research period at an european partner university,
4 european PhD applicants were selected for a research period at south african partner universities,
5 staff applicants were selected for a training/research period at european partner universities.

Selection Results of the 3rd Call will be published soon

The deadline for scholarship applications expired on 20th November. The selection results will be published soon. Moreover applicants will receive a personal email from the coordinator with details concerning their application.

Erasmus Mundus

The Erasmus Mundus programme aims to enhance the quality of higher education and promote dialogue and understanding between people and cultures through mobility and academic cooperation. Action 2 Partnerships are the basis for enhancing academic cooperation and exchanges of students and academics, contributing to the socio-economic development of non-EU countries targeted by EU external cooperation policy.

Mid-term meeting of EUSA_ID as well as the meeting of the selection committee took place at the Ruhr-University Bochum.

31.07.-01.08.2014
Pre departure event took place in Cape Town, at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT).

The Meeting of the Selection Committee took place in Cape Town/ South Africa.

10.10.–11.10. 2013

The EUSA_ID kick off meeting took place in Bordeaux. All 13 university partners and 3 associated partners were represented.

01.10.–02.10. 2013

Dr. Gabriele Bäcker (RUB) and Prof. Julian May (UWC) took part in the Erasmus Mundus Coordinators' Conference in Brussels.
